Mark Yancey on Texas Values

Fighting for our freedom and Texas family values should be every elected official’s top priority.  We are elected to protect every Texan’s right to worship, right to defend themselves, and most importantly, their right to be born.

I am pro-life. I believe in the sanctity of all life. It will be my job as your elected representative to defend the lives of our most innocent, especially our unborn children. All elected officials should unite together to fight for and defend those lives without a voice. I am 100% united with President Trump in his commitment to defund Planned Parenthood.

I support and respect the language of the second amendment. I will filibuster any Bills Democrats introduce that Republicans perceived as a threat to Second Amendment rights, including expanded background checks. I do support blocking the sale of guns to people on the federal terrorist watch list and alerting authorities if someone on the terrorist list tries to buy a firearm. I also support blocking the sale of firearms to people with terminal mental illness.

Senator Cornyn legislation allows for a 72-hour delay for anyone on the terrorist watch list buying a gun with NO provision for terminal mental illness. Cornyn’s Bill is nonsense in that a 72-hour delay would mean that gun dealers would have to deal with the federal bureaucracy, which is very difficult to deal with.

I support the “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act bill.” This bill would grant individuals with concealed carry privileges in their home state the right to exercise this right in any other state with concealed carry laws while concurrently abiding by that state’s laws.

I support allowing veterans to register unlicensed guns acquired abroad.

I oppose gun control because it will not stop mass shootings or decrease gun crime.
